You have two main issues with your nose. Actually, probably three:Your nose, as you mention, is "long," where "long" refers to the distance from where the nose begins, between your eyes, down along the bridge to the tip.Your nose is also strongly "projecting." "Projection" refers to how far forward, away from the face, the tip projects out. Both of these issues must be corrected, or your nose will look very wrong after surgery.See the "Web reference" link, just below my response. I made a computer morph, and an animation of the morph, to show the changes that are possible for your nose in truly expert hands. I brought the tip of your nose back closer to your face (to reduce the projection), and elevated the tip (to reduce the length). The third issue: your nose looks very much like a nose that has had previous surgery. Have you had a rhinoplasty before? I see lots of noses where a hump was taken off the bridge, but work on the tip was inadequate, so the nose ends up still too long and too projecting. It's work on the tip that can decrease the projection and the length. The work on the tip was inadequate, because it's the most complicated part of a rhinoplasty, and most surgeons don't get complete training in that area. And if the operation is a revision, then it's just ten times harder, so the surgeon must be a true expert in order to make the changes.Be sure to read the section in the "Web reference" link on how to stay out of trouble while searching for a rhinoplasty surgeon.
Thank you very much for sharing your concerns with us.The harmony between facial parts makes us instinctively recognize the beauty... without knowing it, without defining it, just a perception that surprises and captivates us.In this regard, I suggest perform a Closed Rhinoplasty (without visible scars) to treat the tip, base and nasal bridge. With this procedure you get a delicate nose, better harmonize with your other facial features.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
Yes, a rhinoplasty would be an excellent procedure for you. You have a very aesthetically pleasing profile, and I think shortening the length of your nose would make it near perfect. The most important thing you can do is consult with multiple board certified plastic surgeons in your area, and ask to see before and after photos of rhinoplasty. This surgery is among my favorite to perform, and it needs to be done by a surgeon who is very comfortable with rhinoplasty. Best of luck to you!
Your profile photo reveals a long nasal appearance, along with an acute nose-lip angle, and an over-projected nasal tip. An over-projected nasal tip is one that sticks out too far. Well-performed rhinoplasty surgery may lead to a more pleasing appearance of your nasal tip that may be more harmonious with your bridge.Hope this helps you.Dr Joseph
De-projection of the long nasal tip? This is what you need since your bridge profile is fine. Make sure to see a very experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who does NOT overdo your nose.
A reduction of the length of your tip cartilages which are shaped like a tripod to project your nasal tip would be necessary. Sometimes a bit of the caudal septum can be reduced as well.
The answer is "yes", your nose can be shortened in experienced hands. However, this is the critical feature: there is no procedure in facial plastic surgery that approximates the level of technical expertise and artistry required for Rhinoplasty. The procedure required is known as a "deprojection" procedure and can involve tailoring of the caudal septum, lateral crural length, medial crural length, or a combination thereof. Sometimes these maneuvers will subsequently necessitate an alar base reduction upon deprojection. I have included a sample of a deprojection Rhinoplasty in the link below. Good luck in your search!
Yes, rhinoplasy surgery can address the overprojection of your nose. Currently, the nose projects to far from the face giving the nose a long appearance. Specific maneuvers can be performed to deproject the nose to allow it to be in better balance with the face. I would suggest consulting with a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty surgery. Good Luck!
We use words a little differently in rhinoplasty descriptions. Length describes the length of the nose from where it begins above to the tip. Yours could perhaps be shortened very slightly but is basically good in length. Your tip however is overprojected- extends too far from the face. Depending on the exact anatomy this can be improved with some relatively straightforward techniques from inside the nose. An exam would be required to diagnose the cause of the projection and recommend the exact procedure.
From the picture I think the projection off your face is more of an issue than the length of your nose. We routinely do measurements of the facial proportions to determine what is out of balance compared to aesthetic norms. Then we display those changes with computer imaging to confirm the problem and the solution. It is a very effective way to make the correct diagnosis and then design the correct treatment plan. Good luck.
At only 10 days post op there is significant swelling present in the nose. This will gradually dissipate over several months. During this time there may be some change in the amount of tip rotation visible, however, this is generally not a great deal of change. Revision would not be pe...
Hello. It's understandable to feel concern, but it is too early to make any judgement on the results. There will be soft tissue swelling for several months, and the final results won't be seen until at least a year after surgery. Certain things such as a dorsal profile after hump reduction sh...
Typically an office consult is need for an examination and discussion regarding your goals for rhinoplasty. video imaging and photo reviews are important, as both help firm up exactly the type of rhinoplasty you desire, and also what can be realistically done. Surgery is usually performed as...
