If one has a chalzion adequately treated through excision or incision, there is often some swelling that needs to subside. This can take a very short time but in some instances can take several months. It depends on both the size of the lesion and if there was significant infection.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, there is no textbook answer. Your recovery time depends on the location, size, and technique used to remove it. It may be removed with a laser, scalpel, needle, or liquid nitrogen. I suggest consulting with the physician that will perform the procedure to get the most accurate estimate. Best of luck!DrC
Thank you for sharing your question. Recovery time is about 1 week following incision and drainage of a chalazion. Usually, the best treatment is injecting the chalazion with Kenelog. This procedure is highly successful with no recovery time. See an experienced doctor with this technique, because complications can occur. Good luck.
Dear awang idin,Chalazion surgery has a quick recovery. Many patients will recover in less than one week. An experienced plastic surgeon can be found on real self.
Hello, thank you for your question. Recovery from the procedure varies based on several factors, including the particular surgical technique used and the location and size of the Chalazion. Normally recovery time lasts anywhere from one to two weeks. During this time you may have to apply warm compresses to the eye every 15 minutes. During recovery it is important to follow your physician instructions, for some patients they may require to continue warm compresses and topical antibiotics for a period. Chalazions are a common form of eyelid cyst and although troublesome they don’t effect the vision or the shape of the eyelid long-term.
A Chalazion surgery is minor eyelid surgery, is usually only a few days of minor swelling after the procedure. Chalazion surgery is best treated by an ocular plastic surgeon.
Hello and thank you for your question about recovery after a chalazion excision. The procedure typically only takes a few minutes. Afterwards, you probably won't even require a patch. You should be able to go about your normal routine, but no heavy lifting, bending or strenuous activity, as that can increase bruising. Most patients get more bruised up for the first few days after surgery and then that subsides after about 1-2 weeks. Though some patients have residual swelling/bruising for longer than that. An alternative to surgery is a steroid injection, though that can cause skin depigmentation in patients with darker skin tones.
