CoolSculpting helps eliminate focal unwanted fat by freezing and killing the fat cells. It does not destroy or affect bone nor will it exacerbate osteoporosis. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice. The information provided should not be relied upon as a substitute for consultations with a qualified health professional who may be familiar with your individual medical needs.
The patented cryolypolysis technique utilized by CoolSculpting systems to disrupt the integrity of fat cells does not affect other tissues and will not affect your bones. When you’re treated with CoolSculpting, the temperature of the targeted area is lowered just enough to affect fat cells but not skin, muscle or bone cells. The fat cells ‘“freeze” and go into a slow-death cycle known as apoptosis over the next two weeks. With time, your body eliminates the debris through the lymph system. The only side effects you’re likely to have are tenderness and swelling at the treatment site for a few days or weeks and perhaps some slightly reddened or pink skin for hours or days. Please find a board-certified dermatologist to help you contour your figure with CoolSculpting and Zimmer Z-wave radial pulsed therapy to maximize your results.
Coolsculpting treats the fat under the skin, making about 20% of the underlying fat go away with each session. It will not effect your bones, so osteoporosis is not a contraindication.Andrew Campbell, M.D.Facial Rejuvenation SpecialistQuintessa Aesthetic Centers
You can still have CoolSculpting treatments even if you have Osteoporosis. CoolSculpting will only targets the underlying fat layers and will have no affect on your bone structure or strength. Hope this helps!Best,
There should be no issues having CoolSculpting if you have osteoporosis. The treatment should not have any impact on the bone condition.
It is not dangerous to have Cool Sculpting performed if you have Osteoporosis. The technology for Cool Sculpting targets the fat cells only, so there is no danger or effect to the skin, blood vessels, nerves or deeper tissues such as bone. Hope this helps!
Hello there! I would recommend consulting with a Coolsculpting specialist to discuss this further, but Coolsculpting is not contraindicated with osteoporosis! Cheers! Sarah RN BSN
Thank you for your question! There is not a problem receiving Coolsculpting with osteoporosis. The results will be the same as other patients. There are very few medical issues which prevent Coolsculpting: Umbilical hernia, cryoglobulinemia, pregnancy, cold uticaria, recent surgery or wound in the area to be treated. Coolsculpting is a very safe procedure with millions of treatments to date. Best of luck!
Hi and thank you for your question! Coolsculpting effects only the subcutaneous tissue, nothing deeper such as bone and it also leaves the surface of the skin intact and safe. So there is no problem with any patients that have osteoporosis. Your provider will review your medical history with you and do a complete assessment of the area you wish to be treated. An in-person assessment is the best way to be evaluated for coolsculpting to assure you are a good candidate and how many cycles and treatments are recommended. We have nine coolsculpting machines in our office, so this allows us to do multiple areas at one time which will significantly expedite your treatment time. We can use up to four machines at one time to multiple areas! We are recommending all of our patients use the newest topical skin cream from Alastin Skincare called TransFORM Body, starting a few weeks before treatment, during treatment sessions and for some time after, as this has been shown to accelerate body fat reduction and enhance skin tightening from the procedure!Best, Dr. Grant Stevens
Coolsculpting only treats the underlying fat layer at each treatment site and will not affect the bones. So even if you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, you can still be a candidate for Coolsculpting!
Good morning! Just be careful with the heat if the area is still numb as you can cause a burn. Massages are perfectly fine! Good luck!
