I've seen many many women on this site who were given their implants back after explanation. I wanted to see mine and take them home and was met with amazingly aggressive hostility by the surgery manager at the surgery center. She said she'd never heard of this and it's not allowed, and why do I want them and what do I want to do with them anyway? I Called again when I got home after surgery because I at least want to see them before they are "processed" if I can't have them. She said no!

Answer: Breast implant return The surgery center I operate at won't give implants directly back to the patient either. I usually take the implants after they have "decontaminated" them (usually by soaking them in some sort of sterilizing fluid) and then I give them to the patient. Ultimately, they are your property and you have the right to get them. Below is a link to an article/policy from AORN. It is not expressly forbidden to return an article like this, but they have to follow certain procedures regarding the handling of "bio hazardous" materials.
