I had Botox injected between my eyes to reduce wrinkles in that area. My nose bridge area and eyes have swollen significantly. I am very concerned. It's day 2 and very swollen, irritated and painful. Is this normal? Any suggestions? Should I go back to my Dr?
Answer: Botox Allergy--See a Doctor for a formal evaluation An allergy to Botox is very rare. I do recommend you follow up with your Doctor for an evaluation. Some bruising and swelling can be typical with injections and will resolve in 1-2 weeks. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Allergic reaction to Botox Thank you for your question and photograph. My advice is to return to your injector regarding the pain and irritation. Swelling and bruising are not usual signs of an allergic reaction. Best of luck.

Answer: Allergic reaction to Botox between eyes It is extremely rare to have an allergic reaction to Botox. It is much more likely that it is a bruise deep in the tissues that has not yet become visible. I would recommend seeing your treating physician in follow-up.

Answer: Orbital swelling & pain after Botox injection. You appear to have significant swelling in the medial canthi--insided corners of your eyes. I note bruising in one corner as well. I am unsure if you had your nasal folds treated at the same time as your frown, but it appears that the supertrochlear (frown) or other vessel in this area was nicked. This is an unusual complication of Botox injection, but can occur. I recommend icing the area 20 minutes at a time every few hours for 1-2 days. Please do not apply the ice directly to the skin. Instead, place in a plastic bag & cover with a pillow case or thin towel. Sleep with your head elevated (2-3 pillows work great) for the next few days. Arnica tablets & cream can be used to hasten resolution of the bruising & Arnica can be found at most health food stores. The swelling should resolve within a few days of treatment, but the bruising can take weeks. It's unfortunate this occurred, but complications do happen.
