Hi Christine: It takes some time (at least 1 month) to see the results of this treatment. The masseter muscles can vary in size and muscle strength in different patients, and results can be variable depending on the quantity of botox used. Hi Beth: I agree with Dr. Nayak. I would not wager that 2 units of Botox could cause excessive dry mouth -- this is a rather low dose injected in a location that does not produce saliva. Your parotid glands produce most of the saliva, and these are located at the angle of your jaw and extending in front of your lower ear -- far away from the location injected. Hi Am: Allergic reaction to Botox is very uncommon. I am unsure of exactly where or how much was injected but I would certainly return to your doctor for evaluation. Mild bruising and swelling can occur commonly with any injection around the eye. Hi -- This asymmetry can be easily fixed with neuromodulators such a Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport. This is quite common and many people often live their entire lives without ever noticing it. Very few people's faces are perfectly symmetric. Sometimes eyebrow waxing or plucking techniques can make this asymmetry worse.
