My dr said this should take 1/2 an hour and wants to charge me $950. Should I see if another dr would do it for less or is this normal? The reason is bc he lowered one breast and not the other and they are lopsided. Won't waive fee
Answer: Capsulectomy Hello,I'm not sure what the diagnosis is other than implant malposition. Is it capsular contracture? Regardless, even a partial capsulectomy on one breast would take at least a half hour, require general anesthesia, and would cost much more than $950. Sticking with your doctor would definitely be the cheapest route, but not necessarily the best for your outcome. You should visit a few surgeons that specialize in revision breast surgery who are ABPS certified/ASAPS members.Best of luck!

Answer: Capsular contracture In all honestly, something just doesn't sound right. I cant quite tell if you have malposition or a cap con, but either way surgical correction will cost more than $950 for just operating room and anesthesia and in the best hands will take more than 30 min. I would see another board certified plastic surgeon and get his opinion.

Answer: Pricing for surgery Thank you for your question, and I'm sorry that you're having to go through this revision. This seems like a reasonable price, depending on what was discussed before your first surgery in regards to revisions. In addition to a surgeon's fee, there is also an anesthesia fee and an operating room fee. If your total price is $950 it sounds like he's performing the surgery for free and that money is going to the anesthesiologist and the surgery center.Good luck with your revision,Dr. Seth

Answer: How much should a bilateral capsulectomy cost? I am sorry to hear about the problem you are experiencing. The quote you have seems very reasonable. Generally, policy regarding coverage of expenses for revisionary surgery will vary from office to office and probably on a case-by-case basis as well. Costs of revisionary surgery may range from zero, to anesthesia/surgery center fees, to discounted surgeon's fees. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with long-term.

Answer: Capsulotomy / Asymmetry Good morning!$950 is cheap for a revision- I say take it and run with it. It is customary for patients to at least pay anesthesia and OR charges when undergoing a revision, and sometimes a surgeon's fee is warranted as well.
