My nasal bones appear wide and my nose is swollen 6 months after my rhinoplasty. What can be done? (Photo)

Hello, I have thick and oily skin and I had a rhinoplasty six months ago, but my nose is still swollen (not just the tip) and my nasal bones seem wider than my original nose (which looks weird). Is this normal or should I be concerned? Is there anything that can be done? Will I need a revision rhinoplasty or could this be fixed with steroid injections?

Your nose still has some swelling so it’s too soon to know if a revision is needed. You might ask your surgeon about steroid injections which will bring the swelling down faster

It’s a little difficult to make an assessment regarding the outcome of your procedure with the information presented. Rhinoplasty surgery is not one single operation, but generally a combination of many different procedures involved in reshaping the nose. In other words to understand what surgery you actually had you need to break down each component of the rhinoplasty procedure, so we know what you have done. Typical steps that may be included in rhinoplasty include dorsal hump reduction, tip definition, raising the tip, in fracture of nasal bones, Cartlidge, grafting, etc..
Generally speaking, we need a complete set of formal before and after pictures to make a good assessment as well. If you don’t have formal before, and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward, the pictures they took, including all the angles.
At six months, the great majority of swelling should be gone and your results are starting to approach final outcome.
I suggest you follow up with your provider and have him or her address your concerns with an in person follow up. If you don’t get the answers, you’re looking for then consider having an in person second opinion consultation. We generally wait one year before considering the rhinoplasty surgery, final, or before, considering doing revision surgery.
There may be subtle changes by waiting longer, but at six months your results are pretty close to what they’re going to be as your final outcome.
