Hi, I got my rhinoplasty over 6 years ago now and the surgeon made my bridge way too thin! There's a visible dent on the left side too. I'm biracial so I told him I didn't want to stray from my "ethnic" nose too much but now this dent looks awful. It can't be covered with any makeup. I've asked a licensed injector about liquid correction and she said it would't fix the issue. Any other thoughts? Before and after pictures

Answer: Thin Nasal Bridge Discuss Your Concerns with Your Surgeon: It's crucial to have an open and honest discussion with your original surgeon about your concerns. They may have insights into why the nose bridge appears too thin and can provide guidance on potential solutions.Remember that the choice of corrective solution depends on your individual anatomy, the specific issues you're facing, and your surgeon's expertise. Be sure to choose a qualified plastic surgeon with experience in revision rhinoplasty and discuss your goals and concerns thoroughly before proceeding with any additional procedures.

Answer: Revision rhinoplasty Improving your outcome is definitely possible. To make an accurate assessment regarding the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure we always need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures, try to contact the original surgeon and see if they still have pictures available and get them forwarded. You should also get a copy of the operative report. These are very important in making a good assessment before considering revision surgery.I’m guessing the fracture line was set a bit high during your procedure, and the base or width of your nose is showing its original contour. It should be possible to reduce the bony edge by using Files or rasps. Look for senior, board-certified, plastic surgeons or facial plastic surgeons, who specialize in rhinoplasty surgery. Rhinoplasty surgery is complex and revision rhinoplasty is far more difficult than primary procedures. To find the right provider, I suggest patients have multiple in person consultations. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients with similar facial characteristics to your owner. Includes revision rhinoplasty for those who need that procedure. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing the best results of a providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider or how many of these procedures actually done. Being bored, certified in plastic surgery with years of experience, and overall good reputation, it does not mean that somebody has mastered anyone specific procedure, especially not complex procedures like revision rhinoplasty.. There’s no correct number of consultations to have to find the right provider. The more consultations you have the more likely you are to find the best provider for your needs. Your candidacy for the procedure requires seeing quality before and after pictures, so try to get those organized before your scheduled consultations. Good luck, Mats Hagstrom MD
