Hi there, I’m a 25 year old female, with an aquiline nose, and have been debating getting rhinoplasty for a few years to shave “the bump”. I do have strong facial features and large eyes, so I would like to know if rhinoplasty would suit me? If not that, would be you recommend anything else to appear more feminine? I have never had any cosmetic or surgical work done to my face
Answer: I think a rhinoplasty would suit you well. Not just the bump, though... Besides the bump, to my eye, looking at your tip, your nose is strong in its forward projection away from your face, so after removing the bump, I'd like to see the tip and bridge and entire nose brought back closer to your face. Then, when you lower a bump on the bridge, and also when you "de-project" the nose, it tends to make the nose *look* longer, as if the tip had dropped. So it's important to elevate the tip some at the same time, so you don't wonder why your nose is so long after surgery. How *much* to elevate the tip, or deproject the nose, or lower the bump, or make other changes? We figure that out with morphs, well before surgery. I'd love for you to see some excellent professionally-designed morphs of what could possibly be done with your nose. Morphs could also help you identify better just what's bothering you, and help you set a goal for the rhinoplasty that's accurate for your tastes. Profile and three-quarter views would be particularly important in morphing your nose. (Side note: in my opinion, morphs should really be done by the surgeon, or he should direct an assistant as she makes the morphs. Morphs should be made with a constant eye to what actually *can* be done in surgery, for that particular nose, and the surgeon has that information and judgment best.) Finally, remember that rhinoplasty is an exquisitely difficult operation to get right, and you should only have surgery if you are able to make yourself very confident in your surgeon's skills. The changes that your nose needs require advanced techniques, and skill that most plastic surgeons don't possess with expertise. It's much better to not have surgery than to have inexpertly-performed surgery. Read my essay on how to stay out of trouble while selecting a rhinoplasty surgeon. And it also discusses how to take photos that are best for online evaluations.

Answer: Yes, you could benefit form a rhinoplasty Hello from Istanbul! Based on your description and pictures, it looks like the tip projection may also be bothering you in addition to the nasal hump, creating a disproportional look. A tip plasty combined with hump reduction could provide more balance. So, you are definitely a candidate for rhinoplasty. A straighter side profile would suit you much better and appear more natural than a curvy nose. Wishing you the best in your decision!
