I would like to know the risk associated with having plate and screws in my chin since I am considering a genioplasty. I have been reading about the potential of these materials being carcinogenic. Is there a risk for cancer or other health conditions due to these materials being left in the body (face) forever?

You are a good candidate for a genioplasty! This permanent procedure that would add length to the bottom of your face, creating more facial balance. It would create a stronger jawline and bring your chin forward and down. A genioplasty would improve the labiomental fold, decreasing the shadowing...
Thank you for your pictures. In my opinion, a sliding Genioplasty would be beneficial for you. Jaw surgeries correct both the bones and the bite. Your x-ray reveals that your upper and lower jaw bones as well as your teeth are in a good position. I hope this is helpful.
