Would I be a candidate for sliding genioplasty? (Photo)

Thank you so much for your pictures. In my opinion, to gain the maximum improvement you may need a lower jaw surgery, jaw angle implants and a sliding genioplasty. A sliding genioplasty alone will not totally give you the jaw, chin and neckline that you desire. I hope that this was helpful.

You are a candidate for jaw surgery. I would highly recommend speaking with a cranio-maxillo facial surgeon first before any cosmetic surgery. I would also do some research into "idiopathic condylar resorption." A genioplasty would unfortunately not give you the results you are looking for. Jaw surgery is a major procedure, but it would fix most of your aesthetic issues, as well as improving your bite and other problems you may have (jaw pain, sleep apnea...). It would give you better quality of life, as well as avoiding other problems down the road. You can also have jaw surgery with a genioplasty added for the extra facial contour and definition. Your chin is severely recessive and in order to improve facial balance I would recommend an advancement genioplasty to move the chin forward 9-10 mm. After 6 months I would then place a chin implant over the advancement genioplasty. A chin implant alone will not give you enough advancement. Both these procedures are performed in the office under intravenous anesthesia and takes about an hour. I have treated many cases like yours, and both procedures are needed to provide a balanced lower face. Braces are not needed and your bite will not be affected.
