I had an umbilical float surgery 8 months ago to fix an umbilical hernia and tighten the muscles. The belly button was lowered a little bit. Now it looks a bit strange and still have some loose skin above, more so below the bellybutton. What is the best way to fix the belly button without a fully tummy tuck? I scar hypertrophic normally.

Answer: Remove the superior skin The skin around the umbilicus can be removed. Involves a scar around the umbilicus. Best to find a board certified plastic surgeon to help. good luck, Andrew Cohen, MD

Answer: Belly button concerns It’s difficult to make an assessment based on the pictures you’ve included. Your pictures look like you haven’t had surgery. Your abdominal wall is bulging and I don’t see an incision. Correcting the appearance of the umbilicus becomes very difficult if you’ve had the umbilicus severed during a floating bellybutton type, tummy tuck. I suggest posting with a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. I’m not a big fan of floating bellybutton surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
