I recently underwent a mini tuck/lipo to the abdomen and am very disappointed with the results. The lipo left a tremendous amount of laxity in my upper abdomen below the breasts that was not present prior to the surgery. The surgeon said I need to wait a year for correction and that my options are 1) a full tuck with a hip to hip scar and a vertical scar because I don't have enough to pull down, or 2) a reverse abdominoplasty. I do not want a vertical scar. Is reverse tuck an option for me?
Answer: No photos no recommendations How can we possibly know if we can't see you. Regardless, the vertical scar is far from noticeable when done correctly (how do I know? 95% of my tummy tuck patients get one), and is a better alternative to a long horizontal scar placed too high. Your surgeon is still prioritizing 'getting the hole out' (very common still among surgeons) instead of long scar placement, which should be very, very low. A reverse may be an option, but remember it comes with its long scar too: under both breasts and bridging the span between the breasts. Those are great if you either have breast lift scars or you are also getting a breast lift. You need to go on live or virtual consultations to get your best answer.

Answer: Mini tuck correction Dear WS1983, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Mini tuck correction A reverse tummy tuck, or reverse abdominoplasty, is a procedure that targets the upper abdomen by lifting and tightening the skin towards the breasts, often with incisions placed under the breast folds. Whether a reverse tuck is suitable for you depends on several factors: Area of Concern: A reverse tummy tuck is particularly beneficial if you have excess skin and laxity primarily in the upper abdomen. If your concern is more in the lower abdomen, a mini tuck or standard tummy tuck revision might be more appropriate. Previous Surgery Results: The outcome of your previous tummy tuck and the specific issues you are facing (e.g., scarring, muscle laxity, skin redundancy) will influence the decision. A thorough examination by a qualified plastic surgeon can determine if a reverse tuck can address your specific concerns. Skin and Tissue Quality: Your skin's elasticity, the amount of excess skin, and the condition of your abdominal muscles and fascia are critical factors. A reverse tummy tuck might be considered if your upper abdominal skin is loose, but your lower abdomen is already sufficiently tight. Overall Health and Goals: Your overall health, medical history, and aesthetic goals will also influence the decision. Discussing these with your surgeon can help in formulating a personalized plan. Consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon is essential to evaluate your individual situation and determine the best surgical option for you. They can provide a detailed assessment and discuss the potential benefits and risks of a reverse tummy tuck compared to other revision procedures.

Answer: Abdomen First, you should have realized that the mini tuck does not address the upper abdomen. Second, I am not a fan of the reverse tuck because it often just pulls down the breasts. Probably, the full tuck is what you needed and still need. You will get your best results with the full tuck.

Answer: Is a reverse tummy tuck right for me? Photos or an in person evaluation are needed for the best recommendation. A reverse tummy tuck comes with its own set of risks and benefits that need to be discussed. I encourage you to visit a few board certified plastic surgeons near you to listen to various opinions. Typically a standard tummy tuck is recommended based solely on your description.
