Urgent! Tummy tuck revision after egg donation.

Question

Long story short, booked revision tummy tuck 4th march. To help with paying I wanted to do egg donation (done previously all fine). I told the egg clinic about my surgery said I would wait til after if it was a problem they said it would be fine so went ahead. My eggs were collected Monday just gone my surgery is next Monday! Now I’m in pain and told them I’m worried about surgery they say I can’t do it regardless if was in pain or not! Why didn’t they pick this up soon! So upset and angry

You should not undergo a tummy tuck immediately after an egg donation. The problem is that if you experience post-tummy tuck pain, your clinician will not know if the pain is due to your egg donation or the tummy tuck. Pain after a tummy tuck is normal, but extreme or uncontrollable pain can be a sign of a potential complication. Therefore, pain can be an indicator of an underlying major problem. If you have continued pain, your plastic surgeon will not know if it is from your tummy tuck or from your egg retrieval.

Tummy tucks and egg donations are different surgical procedures in different anatomical landmarks. If you took pain medication, it would cover the problem. However, if your pain persists, your surgeon would need to investigate the cause. Pain could be an indicator of bleeding. However, your plastic surgeon would not know if the pain is coming from the egg donation or the tummy tuck.

You just had a "surgery" to donate eggs, and now need to wait for a second surgery. You need to be realistic.  Your body needs time to heal, and collecting eggs is not a sterile procedure because of entrance into the vagina. You do not want to risk infection of your tummy tuck. There is only one person you should be angry at and that is you.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues regarding your upcoming surgery.  Safety is the number one priority in surgery.  Your surgeon will need to make the determination when it is safe for you to proceed with your revision.  I'm sure it is frustrating but it's important to not put yourself at greater risk.
