Doctor lost a screw inside my jaw during chin implant - is this serious?

My surgeon somehow lost a titnium screw inside my jaw/neck when placing a chin implant. It slipped and went into th muscle and he could not find it to remove it. He says that it "should be fine" and not cause problems. Is this correct? Or is this serious?

If the titanium screw is not causing any problems for you it’s not a problem.
If present it will be visible to radiographs. Titanium will not interfere with having an MRI and the amount of metal is unlikely to set off any metal detectors at airports etc.
Foreign bodies are placed in people on a daily basis during surgical procedure weather metal or permanent suture material. while your situation is not ideal it’s probably better to have left the screw than cause unnecessary trauma to tissues trying to find it. 
It should not be an issue or cause any issue. 
It sounds like you were going to have titanium screws in your tissues as part of the procedure regardless.
