Good evening doctors, I'm 30 years old and six months ago I had a chin implant surgery with a silicone prosthesis inserted from the oral mucosa. I don't like the result, I have lip incompetence and my face has become longer. Here are my before and after photos. What do you think? I would like to remove the prosthesis without doing other operations... will I go back to how I was before or will I have ptosis in my chin?
Answer: Consider your options for chin implants Thank you for including photos. Yes, a chin implant can be removed. While the removal can reverse some of the corrections, your chin may not go back to exactly the way it was before. Your skin may have stretched, or scar tissue may persist. You may consider other options, such as a custom chin implant that is better suitable for your facial profile. Fillers and facial fat transfer may help sculpt your chin too. To determine the best course of action, I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon who can properly evaluate your face and procedure history and customize the best procedure plan to achieve your desired goals.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Chin İmplant Hello ! thank you for your question Based on the evaluation I made from the photographs, the tip of the nose and the tip of the chin from the front remained on the same line, it was too long and a little thin on the upper lip For these reasons, we need to remove the chin implant first, so we can place it in a more suitable size. 2. Rhinoplasty to make the nose look better 3. I recommend lip lift to make the lips attractive. Thank you regards !

Answer: Return to normal after explantation Typically removing chin implants returns facial contour to pre-surgical condition. If there is neurapraxia from the procedure then this may persist especially if waiting a long period of time before removing the implant. Patients who are unhappy with the results are better off having the implant removed as soon as possible so there is valid argument for reassurance because many patients eventually adjust to the changes. Removing the implant before scar tissue has been created is in someways ideal. When it comes to revision surgery there are generally two windows of opportunity. Removal of the implant as soon as possible before scar tissue is created is generally the best. If that window has been passed then it’s better to wait until Scar issue is mature which is typically around six months. I suggest you discuss this with your provider. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
