Burning pain and gradual worsening of mucosal appearance in the area of my cadaveric rib cartilage implant in the septum

Three years ago I had an implant of cadaveric rib cartilage placed on the anterior right side of my septum to increase air resistance. I can feel the added volume when I touch the septum. Two years ago I began experiencing chronic burning pain on my right septum. Using a torchlight I noticed that the painful area has a spot of mucosa that’s become thinner, less bulky, and whitish compared to the surrounding mucosa. Could the implant be causing these changes over time? What might be the cause?

Answer: Not likely the rib, but possibly a permanent suture.
