Three years ago I had an implant of cadaveric rib cartilage placed on the anterior right side of my septum to increase air resistance. I can feel the added volume when I touch the septum. Two years ago I began experiencing chronic burning pain on my right septum. Using a torchlight I noticed that the painful area has a spot of mucosa that’s become thinner, less bulky, and whitish compared to the surrounding mucosa. Could the implant be causing these changes over time? What might be the cause?

Not at all. Recovery is very smooth with rhinoplasty surgery. Approximately 80% of my patients who are coming for rhinoplasty surgery from overseas come by themselves. We don’t expect any pain and discomfort after the surgery and we strongly encourage our patients to be up and about right away.
