My Dr is on vacation out of the country and works independently. I went to my family Dr to get on antibiotics because we believe I may have an infection due to the redness, warmth of skin and pain. What could have caused the blistering?
Answer: I am one week post BBL. Any idea why I blistered? Thank you for your question and photo. Even in this limited view photo, you are not healing well. The blisters happen due to poor circulation to the dermis (thick part of the skin), and this causes slough of the epidermis. This could be an ominous sign of potential skin and deeper tissue loss. You need to be seen by another plastic surgeon (we all provide coverage to our patients when out of town, another plastic surgeon takes over the care of patients in our absence). BTW, most of us work independently, in solo practice. Visit the ER if no other surgeon wants to get involved with your care, since your surgeon did not take the initiative to have you covered. This condition, I would not procrastinate on. You need medical attention including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Good luck.

Answer: Blistering BBL This looks like a superficial infection otherwise known as cellulitis which occurs when certain types of bacteria enter through a cut or crack in the skin. This could have been caused from the operation itself or from friction on the skin after the operation, or a combination of them both. Antibiotics at this point are a good idea, however if your Doctor is out of the country you should see another specialist who has experience in this type of surgery for their opinion on this.

Answer: Blisters after surgery There is no way to determine based on those photos but blusters are never a sign of a normal healing. Please attend the ER or another plastic surgeon consultation. Dr. Cardenas

Answer: I am one week post BBL. Any idea why I blistered? Hello beauty4life8 -Much like the others that have responded already, yes you need to be seen sooner rather than later. You need to be seen by another board certified plastic surgeon or the covering surgeon for your doctor. We all have coverage for our patients when being out of town. If you are not able to get in with either, you should go to the ER. Please do not delay. Best wishes.

Answer: I am one week post BBL. Any idea why I blistered? We cannot give you advice on something like this without a physical examination. From your photos, it looks like you may have a serious problem. If you doctor is not available, does he/she have office staff that can see you? If it is here in the US they should have another doctor covering their patient while they are out of town.
