I recently had BBL on 8/28. Now have edema. When can I start expecting some relief?

Hello, thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear you are having swelling a couple weeks after surgery. I recommend you stay on the regimen your surgeon is providing for you, and also try to drink enough of water and avoid too much sodium. You should consult with your plastic surgeon if the problem does not improve. Any swelling/edema of the feet, ankles, calves or thighs that occurs in the weeks following surgery should be investigated immediately to assure a deep vein thrombosis hasn't developed.

   I do not prescribe diuretics after surgery as this can lead to fluid shifts and electrolyte imbalances.
