Hello I am considering Kybella injection, and concerned of short term and long term side effects of Kybella injection to salivary gland or platysma muscle?

Kybella injections are very safe and effective when performed by an experienced and professional injector, either a Doctor or a Nurse. Injections are intended to treat submental adipose tissue, if performed with the right technique injections are not even close to salivary glands or the platysmal muscle. Kybella shouldn't negatively impact your salivary glands. Kybella is good for removing stubborn areas of fat, but lacks skin tightening. Keep in mind, a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options like Kybella. I recommend Kybella with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is an alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. The most serious potential complication of treatment with fat dissolving injections is injection into the nerve that helps to elevate the corners of the mouth. If this nerve is damaged, the corners of the mouth can "droop" for 10-12 weeks while the nerve heals. However, if injected correctly by an experienced injector, the chances of the nerve being damaged are minimal. If injected with the correct technique, the fat dissolving injections will be superficial to the platysma, and away from the salivary glands. In the studies evaluating the effects and safety of fat dissolving injections, no permanant side-effects were reported.
