Odd shape breast after augmentation (Photo)

It is very simple. The breast implants are too high and will need to be lowered. The breast implants will not drop enough to fill out the bottom. Your plastic surgeon will discussed your options once he is convinced the implants are not dropping enough.  

The final appearance, shape, and movement are not exactly the same as normal breasts. The surgically enlarged breasts do not move in the same way as normal breasts. They tend to be firmer. The contours are usually somewhat different than normal breasts. In some patients these discrepancies may be rather noticeable. Although every effort is made to place the implants symmetrically, complete symmetry is rarely achieved. Immediately after surgery, the breasts are swollen and firmer. The final shape and size is approximated after 2 to 3 months, but up to one year may be required for the end result.

At 4 weeks post op, it is not unusual for breasts to sit high and to still feel a little discomfort, however it is best to be evaluated in person by your Plastic Surgeon so that they can rule out any issues for you and let you know what to expect as you continue to heal.All the best

Greetings and thanks for sharing! Just based on your photos, it looks like you have large areolas and saggy skin below the plane of the breast implants. It also looks like your breast implants are below the muscle and high which can be normal at 1 month after surgery. In time, they should drop and fill out the lower part of the breast better. When this happens depends on your tissue elasticity. After 1 year, you should have seen the maximal changes and if your still not happy then you can consider discussing other options with your plastic surgeon, like a breast lift. Thank you for the photo and question. Your implants are high as expected if they were placed under the chest muscles. It may take a few more months for the implants to drop. I have my patients wear a chest band and perform an implant displacement routine to help with this process. If the implants do not settle they may need to be re-positioned. In some cases a breast lift is also indicated. Make your surgeon aware of your concerns so he/she can advise you about your condition.

It is true that at one month post-op implant position can be relatively high.  It is also true that it may take up to 3 months  for the implant position to stabilize.  This is usually seen with tight skin envelops as in a nulliparous patient.  In your case there appears to be more than enough skin . Conceivably there was inadequate release of the pectoralis major muscle/deep fascia inferiorly or you have early capsular contracture.  Follow-up with your surgeon. Regards.

Thank you for your question and photo.  From what I can see, your implants seem to be riding a bit high, which is not uncommon at 4 weeks with implants under the muscle.  You also appear to have a fair amount breast overhanging the breast crease with large areolas.  Depending on how much your implants settle over the next several months, you may need to consider a staged lift to optimize shape and nipple position.  Best to follow up with your surgeon as scheduled.  They may consider a breast strap across the upper breast to encourage the implants to fall.  Good luck.

Generally speaking, breast implants will "drop" into the pocket that was created during surgery and massaging the implants downward may assist in the dropping of the implants after surgery (for those patients who want to help with the settling of the implants). The rate of breast implant "settling" may depend on factors such as size of breast implant pocket dissected, tightness of the overlying skin/muscle layers, and size of breast implant utilized. Normally, it takes about 3-6 months (for some patients longer) to see the final result. It is very common for one side to settle faster than the other.
Sometimes, one or both breasts implants do not settle as planned and revisionary breast surgery becomes necessary to improve the outcome. On other occasions, if the long-term breast asymmetry is mild ( understanding that absolute symmetry is very rarely achieved), patients will need to decide whether proceeding with revisionary breast surgery is worth the potential downsides associated with additional surgery.
