I had a rhinoplasty with a chin augmentation 1 week ago. I understand it’s still early and there’s still some swelling, but I’m just not sure if I’ll end up wanting to keep the chin implant. How long would I need to wait until I can have it removed?

Answer: Removing chin implant This is a challenging decision. If you’re absolutely sure you don’t want the chin implant then I would take it out ASAP. Generally we encourage patients to slow down and heal up completely before making decisions. You’ll be better off getting the chin planned out early if you know for sure you’re going to take it out. Either do it right away or wait six months. Generally I would steer on the side of caution and wait it out. Perhaps you need to downsize the implant a little bit? Please talk to your plastic surgeon. You may get different opinions from different surgeons on this topic. The most important opinion by far is your plastic surgeons opinion. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
