Dark spots after micro laser peel (Photo)

Thanks for the great question! After procedures like micro laser peels, Halo, and IPL the pigment which is treated usually turns dark. This means that the pigment (melanin) containing cells have been damaged. You should see those spots start to fall off over the next 3-5 days. Thanks for your photos and question. Looks like it should at 12 hours. The brown spots are going to come off and you should have great result. Keep ointment on and stay out of the sun. Stay hydrated with a lot of water and  try to sleep propped up to avoid more swelling.

Reducing hyperpigmentation on your face can be a challenge. It is very common for the brown spots to look worse before they look better. Treatments to reduce hyperpigmentation include laser peels, iPL, and traditional peels. All can cause the brown spots to look more brown before flaking off. It is absolutely crucial that you avoid direct sun exposure and use effective sun protection especially in the month following your treatment. 
Immediately following the treatment cool compresses are soothing. If you have blistering contact your treating physician immediately.
The best sun protection regimen includes:
1. Sunblock your car windows with clear UVA and UVB coating
2. Apply vitamin C/E and ferulic acid serum (skin ceuticals) after cleansing your face in the am
3. Apply tinted sunblock lotion 50 spf
4. Complete your protection with micronized zinc powder and reapply every two hours if driving or outside.
