Does Botox for migraines completely remove forehead movement or lines?

Question

I know my treatment for Botox for migraines was not done for cosmetic use but now my forehead looks like it’s frozen in the glabella area and above that I can still move the other forehead muscles creating that sharpay dog look. I was told it takes 2 weeks to notice full effects for migraine, I’m hoping it’s the same for my lines. I just did treatment 7 days ago.

it takes 10-14 days for it to fully work and if you still have lines or a Spock look you can get touch ups to make it cosmetically look right.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Botox will impact the muscles injected regardless if it was done for cosmetic or medical purpose.  It takes up to 14 days before seeing final results from a Botox treatment.  If you are concerned about the appearance of your forehead you could get a touch up for cosmetic reasons to improve the look.

Thank you for your message! Botox relaxes muscles and diminishes muscle movement. By doing so, active lines are diminished and over time resting lines soften as well. It can be used for migraines as well. If migraine Botox is placed into typical "cosmetic" areas, care must be taken as to avoid adverse side effects such as dropping brows/lids and must be take to create an appealing cosmetic outcome. Botox takes about 10-14 days to fully kick in. Once it has been that amount of time I would recommend following up with your provider with any concerns!

Hello and thank you for your question.  The injection pattern and dosing for migraines is different than cosmetic botox.  Typically it does take 10-14 days for full result, however some patients can see/feel results sooner.  It looks like you may need a small dose of botox lower down on the bridge of the nose.  This will help your overall aesthetic result.   Follow up with your provider to discuss concerns and questions.  Good luck I hope this helps!!

Botox for migraine is a little different than cosmetic Botox injection. It is true that the effect of Botox normally peaks at the 2 week mark. Having said that, I have seen unwanted effects from Botox start to relax or soften after that time period.  It might be worthwhile to wait and watch to see if the forehead effect starts to soften. You should retain the benefit of the Botox for migraine but hopefully will be happier with your appearance for the next few months.

Botox injection for migraine prophylaxis is a little bit different from cosmetic botox injection. You can go back to your physician or to a cosmetic physician for touch up to improve the appearance.
