Thank you for your question regarding whether you would benefit from a tummy tuck. By examining your pictures, you have excess skin and fat of your lower abdomen. Fortunately, you do not have much visceral fat. In my opinion, you would get an excellent result from a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. During your tummy tuck, an incision would be made low on your abdomen and tissue dissection would be made up to your sternum. Your rectus abdominus muscle should be plicated to get you a nice, flat abdomen. The excess skin and fat from your pubic region to above your belly button will be removed, then the skin from the top of the belly button will be pulled down to the pubic region, resulting in a nice, flat tummy. You will also get a pubic lift and a better-shaped belly button out of the tummy tuck procedure. I would also suggest you do some liposuction of the love handles or superior iliac crest at the same time. The procedure should be performed under general anesthesia and should take approximately 3-4 hours to complete depending on the efficiency of your plastic surgeon. Please plan for a 2-week recovery. It will be important for you to wear your compression garment for about 2-3 weeks after surgery. Best of luck. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen.
