Never pregnant - can I have diastasis recti?

Hello, back pain is a common symptom of core muscle instability. That instability can be caused by diastasis recti. Repairing the diastasis and giving you back core stability can significantly improve back pain. As a side note I do not believe the CO2 infiltration from the hysterectomy would have been sufficient to reverse your physical therapy results.

Diastasis recti is separation of your abdominal muscles. From what you notated and asked above, I am not sure that the concern is of your abdominal muscles.

I agree with your assessment. Again, without seeing you doing a good history and physical exam it is hard to give you a lot of useful information....but the area that you are describing is more consistent with a hernia (inguinal or femoral). This "odd pressure" you feel may be a weakness in the abdominal wall and not a true hernia but over time could eventually become a hernia. Or it could be a pulled muscle, or ovarian pain, or.......Having said all that I recommend evaluation by a general surgeon who can assess your concerns. What you are describing is not a DR, which would be located in the middle of your abdomen and also very unlikely since you have never had children. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Yes, diastasis can be caused from many things. Pregnancy is one of the more commonly known reasons. Weight gain and trauma can be another. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your primary care physician. Tests can be ordered to rule out potential hernias.
