Plastic Surgery after Breast Cancer Diagnosis?

Question

Hello, I am 44F recently diagnosed with breast cancer in Nov 2021. I have done well with treatments and have a good prognosis so far. I have diastasis recti and would love to get it repaired. I would like to do some other touch ups as well. How do PSs feel about working on patients with a past cancer diagnosis? Am I out of luck?

Come on over!! Once you are done with all therapy you are cleared by oncology and have healed, have your strength back, your nutrition is good then absolutely we can consider surgery after breast cancer. After that ordeal you need to treat yourself

In my practice, I have performed procedures on patient to have a history of cancer. Depending on the cancer, treatments, the procedure in question, and the current health of the patient will determine if surgery is safe.

To be sure, I recommend that you have an in person consultation with two or more experience board-certified plastic surgeons in your area.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You will need to get a clearance from your doctor prior to surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Patients with breast cancer can have cosmetic surgery.  If you are planning to have reconstruction bear in mind that the abdominal skin is sometimes used for that purpose. You should think about your particular situation and learn about breast reconstruction. Do t get a tummy tuck unless you're sure you're not going to want reconstruction with an abdominal flap
