Yes, most facelift procedures, including a midface lift, will remove excess skin for the best result. See a board-certifiedfacial plastic surgeon for a consultation if you are considering having anykind of facelift procedure done so that they can evaluate your concerns andcome up with the best customized treatment plan for you.
An isolated midface facelift is approached through the lower lids and very little skin is removed. Make certain that you understand what this operation can aesthetically deliver to you.
Thanks for your question. Generally speaking, yes, asurgeon does typically remove some skin during facelift surgery, including alift of the midface. However, this is not a hard-and-fast rule that extends toevery patient. If you're considering surgical facial rejuvenation of any kind, your surgeon will develop a plan that meets each of your needs. Depending onyour desired goals, this may or may not include skin removal. Please consultlocally with a board-certified plastic surgeon to learn more about yourspecific options.
Thank you for your question. The quick answer isyes, a mid-face lift usually involves the removal of some skin. There are manynames for different types of facelifts, such as mini facelifts, mid-facelifts,lower facelifts, and so on. These describe the customization of facialrejuvenation surgery that is focused on specific areas of concern. As youmentioned, they share some fundamental techniques in common, such as liftingand repositioning tissue and muscle and tightening internal ligaments. Byoffering more precise procedures to specifically address problem areas withouthaving to undergo a full facelift, I can customize the results. Each surgeonhas a unique approach, however, and I would recommend consulting with a numberof board-certified plastic surgeons before getting the surgery you want. Goodluck.
Yes, when I do a mid-face lift I usually remove excess skin. I also remove skin to help tighten the neck to enhance the results even more.
Yes, typically the "classic "mid face lift removed some degree of skin. This is typically the skin that is elevated and then becomes excessive at the lower eyelid. However, mid facelifts are not for every one and come with a specific set of potential complications. They can be done in a variety of ways with a variety of techniques. One can suspend the cheek tissues with suture, a barbed strip, and internal device, implants, or even reinflate it with fat grafting. Whether or not you are a candidate for this procedure depends upon your specific aging pattern and anatomy. you would of course need to go with a very experienced surgeon who has performed many mid facelifts.More commonly, the face descends out more laterally at the sides, hence the jowling. In these patients, the classic facelift performed with the incision around the ears is more appropriate. My advice is visit with a board certified plastic surgeon, in fact, visit many, and choose the one with whom you are most comfortable.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA
You had a specific question that hasn't been answered yet. The mid facelift procedure is typically performed with an incision under the eyelashes of the lower lid. It is done by freeing the soft tissues of the cheeks and suspending them to the orbital rim. A secure suspension is critical to the procedure. This will result in some redundant skin in the lower lids that would need to be trimmed. I usually achieve the mid face elevation and lift by elevating the SMASS layer during a standard facelift procedure, in which case facial skin is removed as needed.
Thank you for your question. A facelift procedure routinely removes some excess skin. There are a variety of procedures out there that are 'facelift' procedures. The mid face can also be carried out using different approaches where some skin may be excised and others where the tissue is simply resuspended. I would visit with your plastic surgeon to discuss their approach and whether skin laxity will be addressed.
Hello and thank you for your question. There are several conservative changes which can be performed in a midface lift in order to produce a natural and rejuvenating appearance. With a midface lift, there is usually resuspension of the SMAS and some degree of skin resection. With good surgical technique, patients can have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.
The so called mid face lift is a very vague concept. There are a lot of procedures different surgeons perform and refer to them as a mid face lift. You should go on a few consults to determine what bothers you and what can be done to correct it. There are many fine plastic surgeons in San Diego who I'm sure can help you. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. At 28, yes, a facelift is a bit extreme. There are several non-surgical treatments that may work well for you. Dermal fillers could be the first option to address the nasal labial folds. There is also a treatment called Ultherapy that may be a good option. The...
Thank you for your question and for sharing your concerns and photos. You would see some wrinkle reduction with skin tightening procedures such as laser resurfacing, Ulthera, Profound or even removing some skin right around where you are pulling with your fingers in the photos....
