You would get a nice improvement with lip fillers (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm). Nova threads can be used to improve lift and shape. Implants or fat are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert to go over your desired results. Best, Dr. Emer

You would get a nice result with fillers. Lip augmentations with fillers is a great option to improve the fullness, suppleness and symmetry of the lips. Results can be very natural-looking and will feel very natural. I prefer to use a micro cannula to inject the lips to prevent bruising. Look for a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is an expert in fillers to discuss your desired results and concerns and go over the cost of your procedure.

Your result after lip filler treatment depends much more on the operator than any other element, and there's a large variation in talent among injectors.  For example, your downturned corners create the illusion of a frown (even though you're not sad), and that would be my first priority to correct with filler.  An artistic operator would likely improve definition and embellish your lips to a heart shape, turning your perceived disadvantage of a "tiny" mouth into an aesthetic advantage.  Long horizontal lips can never look like a valentine.

Dear mlargey3,based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a lip filler. I typically use Juvederm for my lip sculpting. There are two main focuses of lip injections, adding volume and actually sculpting the shape. Both involve injecting the filler in different areas of the lips and patterns.

Thanks for the question and your pictures. My first question is what bothers you more - the small size of your mouth or that you would like fuller lips? If it is the small size of your mouth, filler will help to increase the volume and to a certain degree can increase the size but this may not be the best option. I think you would benefit from a valentine lip lift (corner lip lift) and a central lip lift. The distance between the base of your nose to the lower portion of your upper lip is ideally 1/3 the distance between the top portion of your upper lip and the chin. I think from the picture, this columella length with you is longer on the upper lip portion and this with the down turned corners does make your lip smaller. The corner lip lift will address this by increasing the width of your lip. The central lip lift will reduce the distance from the base of the nose to the upper lip and pull it up slightly. This can give a poutier look to the lip and show more of the red portion. You could then have a lip filler following this but might find that you are happy with the results of the surgery alone. I carry out non surgical and surgical augmentation of the lips regularly. The surgical procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic and take about 45 to 90 minutes to be performed. Filler alone will look fine on your lips but it should be done in such a way to contour the lips and then volumise to ensure you dont end up with the full shapeless lip I hope this is helpful for you BWRohit SethPlastic, reconstructive, aesthetic and hair transplant surgery

Lip fillers could certainly help with balancing out the top and bottom lip.  The lips would not look weird, as long as they were injected conservatively.  Smaller lips can accommodate less filler than larger lips, which is why you would not want to have too much injected.   

Most patients can benefit from lip fillers to enhance their existing shape or modulate the shape somewhat, depending on anatomy. The key for a first time injection is not to overdo things; start with a small amount (1cc maximum) of filler like Juvederm or Restylane, with conservative treatment. Then you can always add more later if you feel it's undercorrected and you want more fullness. A skilled plastic surgeon or dermatologist injector should be able to be appropriately cautious in treating you for the first time.

Hello and thank you for your question. I think lip fillers would make a positive change for your appearance. Lip augmentation is more about definition than size or plumpness. I prefer Juvederm Ultra XC for lips. I find that this product lasts about a year or a little less. Find an injector you feel comfortable with and give it a try. Best of luck to you.
