I had laser done in Italy by a Dr there that removed permanent lip filler & numerous granulomas. My lips are wrinkled severely with scars on lips, above and on bottom. I am supposed to go back for 2nd treatment for more removal of filler ( Dermalive). My lips don’t match my face I look like 80 year-old lips.

I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. 5/FU steroids and radiofrequency treatments can give improvement. Filler can be used to improve volume. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

I am sorry that the permanent fillers are not working out for you. While these permanent fillers seemed great at the time, they have had significant issues later on which is why they are no longer used. Surgical removal can be effective for removing the filler and granuloma formation. Steroid injections have also been useful for some patients with particular fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm, restylane, teosyal, etc, are alway an option to restore volume after surgery. Be aware however that sometimes these fillers near the previous filler can precipitate more reaction from the old filler.
