Why do my lip fillers make very little difference? What can I do to get fatter, juicier lips? (Photo)

Question

I've had 2 full syringes, 2 weeks apart, of Restylane. After the swelling went down, I still see no difference than before. What can I do to get more fatter, juicier lips?

There is a huge difference between the pictures you have posted. If you add more, you will likely be overfilled and the chance of a complication will increase significantly. Consider reviewing the pictures with a loved one or close friend, they will help you see what you are missing.

I perform a lot of lip injections with fillers such as juvederm and it works great. Many times I need to put more in one side than the other to attempt to even out the vermillion border (The red line of the lip). This helps provide more symmetry at times.For patients looking for a more long lasting result, I recommend fat grafting. That is, using your own bodies fat to make your lips naturally look more shapely. The bonus is that the results last many many years.
In general, I avoid using permanent prosthesis because I find that the lips are such dynamic and sensitive structures, the end result is not natural.

Hi there, from the picture shared, your lips do look more voluptuous after 2 syringes of filler. The result looks great from the picture and moderation is always the key to beauty.

However, if you are looking for more, options that you could explore include: fat transfer and implant, each have its pros and cons.

It’s a bit difficult to give an exact opinion based on the close-up photo as face to face consultation is always the best. It would be best that you could visit any certified doctor in your community to get a thorough consultation. Hope it helps, cheers.

Hello and thank you for your question. I’m not sure what you’re seeing or not seeing. I see a huge difference between the 2 photos you provided. Personally I don’t think you need any more filler but if you’re unhappy I’d discuss it with your medical provider. Best wishes.

There is definitely a noticeable difference in your before and afters, especially in the top lip. If you would like even ore difference I recommend more filler injections. I prefer Restylane Kysse for noticeable results while maintaining a very plush and soft feel. Hope this helps!

Looking at your pictures there definitely is a difference in your lips size. Prior to the treatment your provider should have discussed your aesthetic goals and pick the Restylane filler type that would get you as close as to your goal as possible (whether on or not consistent with label). Placement of the filler makes a big difference as well. Find an injector who specializes in lips, especially m-shaped lips and your post treatment profile suggest that you have a degree of m-shaped lips that can be improved with specific techniques.

I see a fairly substantial increase in volume in your lips.

It’s up to you if you want to push the envelope further. Go back to your provider and get a third syringe if you want more.

Each syringe is 1 mL. That’s about the size of a skittle in volume.
