For significant improvement, hooded eyelids require surgery if there is enough skin. For nonsurgical treatments: Radiofrequency (Thermage or Venus Legacy/Viva), injectable fillers, and a Botox brow lift can help contour the eyebrows and lift the eyelid skin. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer.
You are likely referring to upper eyelid ptosis. Eye drops are NOT the correct long-term treatment. See an oculoplastic surgeon for evaluation and consideration of eyelid ptosis surgery which can be done using scar-less technique under local anesthesia. See following link and video.
Your question can only be answered professionally in the context of more information. Is the problem worsening, is it symmetric, what is your levator function, what result you want, and more. Consider personal consultation.
Full set of facial and eyelid photographs are required to make a determination between ptosis and purely hooded eyelids. Each one of these issues are treated differently with surgery.
Hi and thanks for your question. It would really be helpful to see some photos to give you an idea of what is going on with your upper eyelids. In general, hooded upper eyelids are not usually due to allergies or other medical conditions. If the excess upper eyelid skin is significant and not medically induced then a simple office procedure can remove the excess skin and create a very attractive upper eyelid crease. Thank you for asking the question. If you undergo a surgical double-eyelid surgery then it is a permanent procedure. The other technique where it is don’t non-surgically using sutures is a very temporary procedure. Good luck!Regards, Dr. Amit Gupta
