I have heard from 1 doctor that the surgeries last temporarily, and will eventually go bak to its original shape
Answer: Be very careful here. Yes, these surgeries last forever and so do to their complications. Removing an epicanthal fold risks placing a scar in a very visible location even if the surgery goes well. Generally, I do not recommend having the epicanthal fold modified due to the risk of scaring. Lateral canthoplasty is being pushed as a cosmetic surgery which it is not. Lateral canthoplasty is a reconstructive procedure that tightens the lower eyelid. Very few individuals need such a procedure. Western doctors misunderstand the canthoplasty performed in the West vs. the canthoplasty performed in places like South Korea. The canthoplasty performed in South Korea attempts to advance the conjunctival mucosa laterally to widen the appearance of the eye. This is a failed surgery that is disfiguring. Be careful what you look for out there.

Answer: Eyelid Surgery Thank you for asking the question. If you undergo a surgical double-eyelid surgery then it is a permanent procedure. The other technique where it is don’t non-surgically using sutures is a very temporary procedure. Good luck!Regards, Dr. Amit Gupta

Answer: Are canthoplasties permanent? Surgery performed on the medial or lateral canthus is intended to permanently rearrange the tissues for a better function or appearance. Chronic mechanical damage can destroy the delicate structures of the eyelid and alter the appearance. Eye-rubbing because of tearing, itching or habit can disrupt the tissues - so it is important to avoid eye-rubbing and excessive hand-to-eye contact after canthoplasty. Best wishes.
