Yes, these surgeries last forever and so do to their complications. Removing an epicanthal fold risks placing a scar in a very visible location even if the surgery goes well. Lateral canthoplasty is a reconstructive procedure that tightens the lower eyelid. Very few individuals need such a procedure. Western doctors misunderstand the canthoplasty performed in the West vs. the canthoplasty performed in places like South Korea. The canthoplasty performed in South Korea attempts to advance the conjunctival mucosa laterally to widen the appearance of the eye. This is a failed surgery that is disfiguring. Be careful what you look for out there.
