It's been 1.5 years since I have the surgery. I try to stay out of the sun as much as possible and apply sunblock daily. You cannot see the physical scars from afar but if I am 1 ft across someone, you can see the scar int he corner of my eyes from the canthoplasty. When I close my eyes, you can also see the scar track. Just wondering if this is a perm. state. THANKS
Answer: It is important to follow surgery with proper scar treatment to help minimize the appearance Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Photos would be helpful A scar revision may be in order. The inner corners are harder to revise. The crease scars can frequently be made better, depending on how large the folds are and how much skin you have left.

Answer: I see you have breast photos posted but no eyelid photos. These incisions are not going to get any better on their own. The topical measures such as silicone gel are ineffective. 5-FU only helps a thick scar. Injectable steroids can atrophy the skin and is likely not appropriate 1.5 years after surgery. Surgical revision is what is best in my opinion. In the lower eyelid, this means lifting the incisions closer to the eye lashes so they are inconspicuous. For the upper eyelid, the most common problem is that the incision was made too high. Depending on what resources have been left after prior surgery, the crease can be lowered to a more natural height, the fold reconstructed and this helps to hide the incision. There is no substitute for a person to person consultation to determine what makes sense for your situation.

Answer: Eyelid scar revision Need to see photos of your eyes and the scar. Usually scars don't change much after a year. There are nonsurgical and surgical treatments available for scar revision. Need consultation.

Answer: Post lower lid surgery This late after a surgery, there are only a few options. One would be a scar revision. This is only worthwhile if the scar is quite visible. Another option is to do some laser. Even with late stage scars, the laser treatment can soften their appearance.
