What is the difference between the newer generation PRP and new PRF for scalp treatment?

I went to a consult that recommended the latest PRP treatments which is more expensive than the first generation . Another provider suggested PRF. What is the difference ? They claim to be both new.

Prf is not as effective for hair regrowth. Prp is effective, but I have a very specific protocol, every 3-4 weeks for 6 months with prp therapy.  I also add in progesterone to speed the healing process.  After that the injections are tailored down.  You should also be on viviscal and other growth promoting ingredients. See an expert for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

In  my opinion, platelet-rich fibrin has not been studied for hair restoration. I consider it experimental. The concept behind PRF is that it sequesters the platelets and allows delayed-release. This is the same concept employed in  using extracellular Matrix as well as  Acell. There's no proof that this provides any additional benefit. However, it is much more difficult to inject and will not diffuse. In effect this means that many more injections will be necessary to cover a treated area. This would be significantly more painful as well as induce more swelling. In summary, although it is an interesting marketing point, I don't believe it has  demonstrated Value in hair restoration injection therapy at this time.
