My pre-op test was negative but I'm now 10 days post op and 5days late in my cycle with a positive pregnancy test. This would have only put me at 10days post-conception-date during the actual procedure. I had a breast augmentation. Should I be concerned about anesthesia effects given that the pregnancy was not detectable at the time of surgery?
Answer: Positive pregnancy test This can happen. Get a copy of the anesthesia record from your surgery and bring it to the OB-GYN. They will keep an eye on your pregnancy and stratify your risks.

Answer: What, if any, are the concerns of a positive pregnancy test shorty after a cosmetic surgery? Congratulations on your pregnancy! It's difficult to know what the exact effects would be on a developing fetus. I would suggest talking to your obstetrician as they specialize in fetal health. Best of luck!

Answer: Pregnancy After Breast Augmentation You really should not have any problems but you should consult with your OBGYN doctor to get more specific details on what you risks may be. Patients have surgery all the time and then find out they are pregnant. Usually it is picked up before surgery and should not be a problem. Best advice is for you to consult with your physician that will be handling your pregnancy. There is nothing you can do at this point.

Answer: Positive Pregnancy Test Post-Breast Augmentation Dear Cb98LP,First, let me express my sympathies for the stress you find yourself under at this time. The most important recommendation is to contact your OB-GYN to discuss this situation as soon as possible. That being said, a few years ago, one of my patients found herself in the exact situation you are in at this time. She too had tested negative on the day of her surgery only to have her pregnancy test turn positive days after her surgery. We contacted her OB-GYN who assured the patient that there was minimal risk to her baby from the after effects of her surgery. He explained that a recently fertilized egg had not yet implanted into the wall of the uterus and was minimally impacted by the medications, etc. that were used during surgery. Only after the fertilized egg is implanted into the uterus does the connection between the baby and mom begin. That's also when the urine tests become accurate. Our patient did well. She delivered without a problem and we see her and her child every year when she comes in for her annual check-up. I hope this makes you feel better.
