Hello, I'm finally in the stages of planning my rhinoplasty! I realized I want to keep at least a little bit of the bump on my nose, but I would also like to decrease the projection. Is there anyway to accomplish this? I have not seen any rhinoplasties like this done before with the doctor I'm planning, so would it be risky? The picture of old Kim k is exactly the side profile I want.

Answer: It is absolutely possible Hi from Istanbul! Absolutely, it's possible to refine your nose while preserving some of its natural character, like maintaining a slight bump. By subtly reducing the bump without completely removing it and delicately shortening the nasal tip, we can maintain the proportions and achieve a more natural-looking outcome with a less pronounced hump, akin to the profile you admire. Best of luck on your journey!

Answer: Generally, yes, you can tailor your desires, if the surgeon will be patient and listen and work with you. When the tip is de-projected, the bump on the bridge automatically looks bigger, so probably it would have to come down some. But in general, you get to decide how much. So, how *much* to lower the bump, or deproject the nose, or make other changes? We figure that out with morphs, well before surgery. I'd love for you to see some excellent professionally-designed morphs of what could possibly be done with your nose. Morphs could also help you identify better just what's bothering you, and help you set a goal for the rhinoplasty that's accurate for your tastes. Profile and three-quarter views would be particularly important in morphing your nose. (Side note: in my opinion, morphs should really be done by the surgeon, or he should direct an assistant as she makes the morphs. Morphs should be made with a constant eye to what actually *can* be done in surgery, for that particular nose, and the surgeon has that information and judgment best.) Finally, remember that rhinoplasty is an exquisitely difficult operation to get right, and you should only have surgery if you are able to make yourself very confident in your surgeon's skills. The changes that your nose needs require advanced techniques, and skill that most plastic surgeons don't possess with expertise. It's much better to not have surgery than to have inexpertly-performed surgery. Read my essay on how to stay out of trouble while selecting a rhinoplasty surgeon. And it also discusses how to take photos that are best for online evaluations.

Answer: Yes: mid-vault vs tip HI - that's a great question. Rhinoplasty requires a careful, well thought out plan that incorporates a thorough understanding of the complex anatomy of the nose. Changing the structure of its components controls both function and aesthetics, and it should be approached in both systematically AND artistically. The midvault aesthetics are defined by your nasal bones, upper lateral cartilages and septum. The tip projection, rotation and position are controlled by the caudal septum and lower lateral cartilages. In the hands of a capable rhinoplasty surgeon, the answer is yes!
