Is 12 cc Juvederm an excessive recommemdation to treat hollow eyes and nasiolabial lines ?

Hi Buttermilk.  We would be hard pressed to be able to place 12 CC's of product in the areas you mentioned.  We normally use 1-2 CC's under the eyes and typically not more than 3 CC's in the nasolabial folds.   If you have only had slight improvement, there is something dramatically wrong with the situation and you should probably seek out another injector.  For before and after photos of injection treatments such as Juvederm, Restylane and Sculptra in Orange County, CA, click on the link below.  

Twelve syringes of Juvederm would definitely be excessive for the areas you are describing. Nasolabial folds usually do not require more than 1 or 2 syringes of filler and the undereye area is usually improved with no more than one syringe. Each syringe of Juvederm contains 1ml of product. A full face softlift may require the amount you are describing but that would be for someone with advanced volume loss.

I would have to agree that 12cc of Juvederm in the areas you mentioned is excessive. I would recommend that you have another assessment done by a experienced injector.  Best of luck

12 c is excessive for most people.  Of course it would depend on the size of your face.  If you are not seeing the results, the material may be injected too deep.

Review of the most recent studies of Voluma, the average number of syringes used were 4. A total of  4 cc for facial rejevenation. 9 cc is well above the standard for facial rejuvenation. I rarely use 4 cc to restore facial volume. The tear trough is a small area which rarely requires more than 1 cc of hyaluronic acid. I prefer restylane or belotero for this.

For hollow under eyes, usually 1 cc filler is enough. And the best filler for under eyes is either Belotero or Restylane.

Are you filling in the Grand Canyon? Yes this is an excessive amount and you should see an experienced facial surgeon for better alternatives. I've never injected anyone with this amount of Juvéderm. The cost for something that lasts 9 to 12 months would be extremely excessive.    

If you require 12cc of an HA filler you may want an alternative option such as fat or something more robust like Radiesse combined with Sculptra to get you more volume and longer term lifting.  Id suggest seeing a facial contouring specialist who will give you an opinion that is in your best interest.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I usually do not inject more than 2 vials of any product in one setting and not more than 2 vials every 6 months. I agree with the other physicians on this forum that this amount of Juvederm is unusually excessive, unless you are > 70 and have severe volume loss. A picture would have been very helpful for further guidance. 

I have never and could never imagine injecting someone with this volume of filler. Either they are diluting the filler, or not giving you real Juvederm, or not placing it properly. 1cc of filler is often enough for the tear trough, and 2-3 syringes for the nasolabial folds/lines.  Make sure you see an experienced and highly trained injector such as a dermatologist for optimal results and safety, and honesty.
