Can I have CoolSculpting after a triple mesh on my incisional hernia back in 2011?

I had a triple mesh on my incisional hernia back in 2011. So far, I had no complications due to the procedure. I was told by others that due to the procedure, it possibly will pull the mesh. Although, it is a triple mesh. Is coolsculpting possible for my condition?

Hi,Coolsculpt is a great non-invasive fat reduction treatment. Unfortunately, it is advised you do not treat over a hernia or repaired hernia with the Coolsculpt machine. I suggest consulting with your local service provider to determine another plan of action for you. Good luck.

I am always hesitant to do coolsculpting after someone has had abdominal surgery, due to the scar tissue that can form and because of any mesh implants. I would avoid coolsculpting but consider other options like Vanquish and Liposuction. If you have any metal implant/metal based mesh, you may not be a candidate for the Vanquish treatment.

Hello there! I would not recommend treating that area with coolsculpting. There is quite a bit of suction used during the procedure, which could disrupt the mesh/hernia. This is a contraindication. Hello and thank you for your question. It is not advisable to have CoolSculpting over the mesh used to treat your hernia. The suction from the CoolSculpting device could disrupt the mesh and cause complications. You can have a body contouring procedure, however, even if you have had a hernia treatment. If you are interested in having fat reduction without these adverse side effects, consider liposuction. Schedule an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic in your area to determine if you are a liposuction candidate by having a full exam. Your surgeon can explain all your options. CoolSculpting is a good option to help reduce fat in certain areas, however is not recommended to be performed over a prior hernia or hernia repair as it can actually cause hernias to occur. I would recommend a consultation with a provider in your area to determine the best plan of action for you!

NO, doing Coolsculpting over any hernia even if it is repaired is a contraindacation to the procedure. You can have it over other areas of the body that it is indicated for but not over a hernia or hernia repair.
