I want a small upturned nose. Is that possible? (photo)

A successful result from rhinoplasty is one when the surgeon can meet the goals of the patient. Different patients have different goals. As long as the goals are realistic and won't cause harm I believe that if at all possible my job as the surgeon is to achieve those goals. Most of the "wish" photo you show are very reasonable and given the photos of you are reasonable. There are a number of steps that are needed o get you there and a an experienced rhioplasty surgeon should be able to explain them to you. The intra operative photos show some results which I believe might be over rotated. Good communication is te key. Good luck.

Rhinoplasty surgery may be considered for achieving a smaller, less distracting, and more feminine nasal appearance. In person exam is essential. Based on your photos and wish pics- the final result will depend on a lot of factors- such as your body's healing capacity, skin thickness etc. In the right hands - your nose can certainly be improved through a closed technique. I suggest that you seek in person consultation with an experienced Board Certified PS

Although every nose surgery is limited with patient's own anatomy and balance with other (facial) structures, patient desire for certain type, shape and size of nose is justified. I do think that you may end up with significantly smaller and up turned nose, within the limits of your anatomy and facial balance. In person consummation with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon, expert in rhinoplasty, is recommended. Good luck.

Based on your pictures, I feel your goals are realistic and would recommend a Board Certified surgeon that is experienced with rhinoplasty techniques and is willing to listen to you and work with you to obtain the goals you are trying to achieve.  Good luck!

Hello and thank you for your question and photos. A smaller nose may be achieved but is highly dependent on your underlying anatomical structures. It is hard to say with certainty if your desired effect with be able to be achieved without examining you in person. I would recommend for you to have an in-person consultation with a few board certified plastic surgeons to discuss your goals.

There is never a reason to hate your nose, since improvement is just a few hours away. You are correct; there are different aesthetics in different regions of the globe.  Most important is to create a natural result. A nose the integrates nicely with your features will age well with you and always look elegant. It is important to not choose a nose based on fashion -- because fashion changes. In my practice, it's imperative that my patients and I have long, serious conversations about their aesthetic and what they want. The surgeon's duty is then to provide the best result possible that honors the patient's needs while while at the same time, helping the patient to see what is a natural result. The nose is made up of half bone and half cartilage. Concentrated attention to these structures must lead to a harmonious result. Precision nasal surgery is detailed and complex, always with a keen eye towards natural beauty. 

Plastic surgeons in the US are trained to match the nose to the face by using facial dimensions and known aesthetic ratios for the "beautiful people". So a small nose on you may or may not look good. You can do facial imaging to create that nose and then see how it looks on your face. Whether that nose is possible with the nose you currently have is questionable. It would be challenging because of the amount of change and the skin envelope. See a board certified plastic surgeon for advice. Good luck.

Yes, a closed rhinoplasty can help to refine your nasal tip and make it turn slightly more upwards, but I don’t think to the degree of some of your photos. See a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person exam and a detailed conversation.

Hello and thank you for your question. It is difficult to say with certainty, but I think your skin thickness and shape would be amendable to a moderate amount of size reduction. The question would really be - how much? That is something that you would have to discuss with your surgeon to determine what is realistic.
