I have had a tummy tuck, lipo, breast reduction, thigh plasty and demabrasion at this surgeon. Exceptional life changing results after weight loss. Dr Schutz HAS to be one of the best — if not THE BEST surgeon in the world. I should have done a breast reduction yearrrrrrrrs ago. Fantastic results and when I need a facelift — there will be no one but Dr Schutz. Also. Just to clarify I did *not* do these all at once and there was a very sensible plan. There was very candid honest discourse about my expectations versus reality. Also Kim - his assistant— is one of the kindest people in the world. Excellent skincare products. Excellent aesthetics staff. I don’t look fake, I feel healthy and happy in my skin after massive weight loss. Going to this surgeon is among the best decisions I have ever made. *non paid endorsement and I received nothing in exchange for this review …EXCEPT MY HAPPINESS ABOUT MY OUTCOME.
I am doing this a bit backwards, as I am now postop writing my review. This site helped me SO much, so I thought I would help out and put my story up for others looking to do the same thing. I didn't do a whole lot of research as far as surgeon goes, but I knew I was picking the right one as soon as I met him for the consultation. I breastfed two babies for a total of 3 years, and my breasts suffered greatly. I don't regret it at all; that's what these types of surgeries are for, right? I was a COW and produced waaaay too much milk, so my breast tissue was super stretched out. I walked in thinking I would need a 450 cc based on pictures I have looked at and consultation with a friend who had them done, so I was a little shocked with Dr. Schutz said based on my measurements, I would need a 650 cc. However, I trusted his judgement, and immediately began researching this size. I went back and forth between having a breast lift versus no breast lift, but decided that the recovery for a breast lift was just not in the cards with my two littles at home. I know I may need a breast lift in the future, but I'm ok with that. My stats: 5'10" 160 lbs 34C but saggy and flat - push up bras did not do the trick! I am currently D6 post op, and my pain is almost completely gone; I still have some discomfort when I stand up after sleeping all night, and my right hurts worse than my left (I am right handed so I think I haven't given that side as much of a chance to rest). I am trying to follow doctor's orders, and my husband helps quite a bit, but there's only so much rest to be had with a 2 and 4 year old. Overall, I LOVE my results. I will try to update as I heal more. I returned to work on POD4, but I work a desk job and am currently working from home due to COVID, so it was not a big deal at all. I haven't taken any Norco, and just took Celebrex twice dailyX3 days and cyclobenzaprine twice daily X 3 days. I have cyclobenzaprine PRN now, and I've been taking them just at bedtime to help me sleep. When I ran out of Celebrex, I switched to taking ibuprofen 800 mg twice daily just to keep ahead of whatever pain I may have, but I'm almost certain I don't need it. I have my first in-office shift tomorrow, and think I will be able to handle driving myself. Updated on 15 Oct 2021: Thought I would throw this up. The surgical marker is never going to come off, I swear! I also had a question if there’s anyone out there reading this that has been through this. I have some nerve issues in my left foot since surgery. It’s semi numb and tingles every once in awhile. Normal? Updated on 22 Oct 2021: 2 weeks post op! Got my sutures removed 2 days ago and was retaped. I feel like they are dropping a little, but because they are still too high, doc wants me to continue to go braless. Another follow-up in a month. I have full range of motion in my arms and today is the first day I’m able to fix my hair. Yay! I’m still holding off on fully lifting my girls but I’ve eased myself back into supporting them. They’ve both been great at cutting mommy some slack. For pain, just some tenderness at the incision but that’s it.
I interviewed 10 doctors across Minnesota, Texas, and South Dakota before chosing Dr. Schutz to be my plastic surgeon. His before and after photos said it all! I was so confident in his skill-set that not once did I experience nervousness. I’m now 6-weeks out and couldn’t be happier with the results! My dear friend of 89 looked at me and said, “That Dr. Schutz, he’s an artist!” I couldn’t agree more!
I couldn’t be happier with the results of my septorhinoplasty due to Dr. Schutzes’ talent and vision. His competence and professionalism plus that of his staff made my surgery experience easier than I ever hoped for. After years of sleep deprivation, I have a full eight hours or more each night. My only regret is that I wish I’d done this sooner!
Dr. Schutz has done a few rounds of fillers for me, as well as 3 rounds of kybella, as well as some botox. He is very knowledgeable and makes sure you feel comfortable with your procedure. His staff are also incredibly kind and caring- I couldn't recommend this office more!
Wanted a lift , and needed . I had many questions and concerns and all answered with grace and patience. The procedure went so smooth and felt I was in great hands with Dr Schutz and his staff. I had a million questions that got answered. Results are fantastic wish I would have done sooner ! Thank you Dr Schutz I will continue to be a patient always .
After losing over 100 pounds, my physique needed a tweak. I had previously had an extended tummy tuck with Dr. Schutz and felt incredibly confident with his exceptional skills. His office staff, coordinator and surgery center staff are all talented, empathetic, good humored folk who make the process as straightforward and easy as possible. I'm extraordinarily happy with results and will pull before and afters for you shortly. Totally worth it.
Excellent - had extended tummy tuck in January 2017. I feel like every portion of the process was exceptional from the initial consult. Went in for cool sculpt consult and they explained the results I should expect considering the state of my belly. They did not attempt to present cool sculpting as a solution for my particular issues and gave me all the options and outlined costs. Thorough. Professional. Kim the coordinator has been with the doctor for a couple decades and is a spectacular resource. I have since had additional surgery with them on other areas and feel like I won the lottery in terms of results. I will review those separately. Very fortunate to have Dr. Schutz -- A board certified surgeon -- in rapid city, SD. Exceptional results. Nice staff.
I am a 48-year-old mom of 3 and I breast-fed all of my babies for a year each. I was never perky but my breasts just felt like deflated balloons of fat hanging on my chest. I didn’t like the way my clothing fit, my shoulders had dents in them from the weight of my sagging breasts and I overall had a poor self image. Then I lost 65 pounds and it was even worse so I decided to consult with a plastic surgeon. I am a week post-op now and tomorrow I have my first follow-up appointment with my surgeon. I can’t wait to see what things look like once the bandages are off. The drains weren’t much fun but those are already out and now the stitches will be removed and I should be able to get a better idea of how I look and feel. I already know it was worth it. The pain was intense for the first 4-5 days but it is much better now. I still have some pain, bruising and swelling but I am happy with my decision so far. If you feel like I did don’t hesitate to consult with a trusted surgeon. Dr. Schutz and his team are awesome! Updated on 4 Nov 2021: My first follow up appointment went well. Dr. Schutz took out the stitches that needed removed and I got a glimpse of my lifted breasts. I still haven’t seen my whole chest in a mirror without bandages/tape. They bandaged me up again to help with scarring. The strips they use must have some healing potential as I’m required to keep them on for another month! I was kinda bummed about that because I really wanted to see my breasts but I know patience is necessary with this process. My next appointment is in a month. I am allowed to shower freely now, which is wonderful! I am noticing some itching so I must be healing. So far, so good! Updated on 16 Nov 2021: I have a question and I’m hoping someone has had a similar concern or experience. I’m almost a month post op since my breast lift (no implants) and my bandages are all off. I am happy with my breasts but I see a significant difference from my left areola to my right. The left one looks perfectly round and nicely healed, but I’m disappointed in how the right side is looking. The areola looks smaller by quite a bit and it’s not as round or nicely shaped. They were equal or very close to equal in size pre-op so I’m not sure if the two areola healed differently or if one was reduced more than the other. I’m hoping someone can look and tell me their experience or thoughts. I can’t afford to have this fixed and I’m upset but I’m hoping maybe things will change as I continue to heal. The swelling isn’t gone so maybe things are slightly distorted still..,. Any advice would be very much appreciated!
Had liposuction in multiple areas with Dr Schutz. Terrible! I had surgery with him fairly recently and do NOT recommend having surgery and/or other procedures with him. He does NOT stand behind his work, is manipulative, condescending, and lied in my patient record. When I tried to discuss these issues, he refused and had someone from his office send me a response letter. Do your research and pay attention to his other negative reviews; especially how he treats his patients. Very unprofessional and unethical! Do not waste your money or your time!
It is not uncommon to perform a septoplasty at the time of surgery. You may have a deviated internal nasal septum, you may need cartilage grafting for support, or you may need cartilage grafting for aesthetic reasons during your rhinoplasty. You should discuss your concerns with your surgeon. Robert Schutz, M.D., FACS Rapid City, South Dakota
Yes, through an open approach the nasal cartlidge can be reshaped and the asymmetry improve. This may need to be supported with cartilage graft. What would be the best result and most appropriate procedure would depend an examination and discussion about desired outcome. Robert Schutz, M.D., FACS Rapid City, South Dakota
Good question and pictures!! What would be the best result and most appropriate procedure would depend a history, examination, and discussion about desired outcome. You have central skin laxity in your neck and I feel the best house and be with a neck lift. I feel nonsurgical options would not be of any benefit. Naturally appearing results can be obtained with surgery and I think you’d be a good candidate. Robert Schutz, M.D., FACS Rapid City, South Dakota
What would be the best result and most appropriate procedure would depend an examination and discussion about desired outcome. Based on your pictures, I feel a lower face and neck lift would give you the best result. Naturally appearing results can be obtained with surgery and I feel you would have a nice result and be a good candidate. Robert Schutz, M.D., FACS Rapid City, South Dakota
What would be the best result and most appropriate procedure would depend an examination and discussion about desired outcome. Naturally appearing results can be obtained with surgery and non-surgical procedures. Your surgeon should have an extensive facial rejuvenation experience. It will depend on the comfort level your surgeon has with the laser or peels. Natural appearing results can be achieved with either. I feel the most important factor that you will need are fillers to get volume back into your face and around your mouth. Well worth it and good luck! Robert Schutz, M.D., FACSRapid City, South Dakota
