Is it okay to get dermaplaning 3 months after rhinoplasty?

I had my rhinoplasty December 16 so it’s been almost 3 months. I wanted to get a dermaplaning procedure done to remove facial hair but I was wondering if it would be okay to do?

Hello, my name is Ranen and I am an aesthetic nurse at Shah facial plastics.  That’s a really thoughtful question — and it’s great that you’re being cautious after your rhinoplasty. At about 3 months post-op, most patients are starting to feel “back to normal,” but your nose is still in the later healing phase, especially in terms of internal swelling and the delicate soft tissue and skin envelope.  At 3 Months Post-Rhinoplasty the nasal bones and cartilage are stable by now. Skin sensitivity — particularly over the nose and adjacent areas (cheeks, upper lip) — can still be heightened. Superficial treatments like dermaplaning are generally considered safe, as long as the nose itself is handled very gently.  3 months post-op → generally okay for gentle dermaplaning, with caution and surgeon approval.  Focus on cheeks, jawline, and forehead; minimal or no contact on the nasal area.  If you’re still slightly swollen or numb on the nose, wait until about 4–5 months to be extra safe.

Yes, you should be well over your rhinoplasty at 3 months.  Dermaplaning should be fine at this point as would most skin based facial rejuvenation procedures.

Hi there, as long as you don't have any open wounds or breakouts, dermaplaning can be safely performed. Make sure you go to someone very experienced in this procedure as it requires a very sharp tool. You may also want to consider laser hair removal for longer lasting results. Good luck!

Thanks for your question.  Dermaplaning should be just fine at this point. It is an exfoliating procedure that helps temporarily remove fine surface hair and makes the skin feel nice and smooth.  If you have thicker darker facial hair and light skin, you might want to consider laser hair removal, but ask your dermatologist which procedure would be best for your skin type.  Best of luck!
