Taking care of myself alone after BA, will I be ok to take care of myself?

Thanks for your inquiry, please check with your surgeon to address your particular situation.  If you were my patient I would be concerned and would want you to see if you can get someone else to drive you home and help for the first couple of days at least. Good Luck. 

Hello and thank you for this great question.  If you cannot reschedule your surgery, you may want to consider staying in the hospital for the first 24 to 48 hours after your procedure so that someone can assist you with basic tasks and ensure that you’re recovering well.  If you cannot stay in the hospital, talk to your board-certified cosmetic physician about alternatives.  His practice may offer short-term care, such as a visiting or day nurse for your home during this time.  The first few days after your surgery will be the most challenging, you should make every effort to have some kind of outside help during this period.  If you have exhausted your options and cannot find help, ensure you have plenty of pre-prepared meals, supplies to tend to your dressings and all of your emergency numbers convenient.

Always best to have someone with you throughout the journey. Might be best to stay in overnight postop and have someone around to keep an eye on you for the 24-48 hours after that.

Thanks for your important question.After the procedure you have planned I would recommend that you plan to have someone available to help you for the first 2-3 days.  Discuss this with your plastic surgeon and their office staff and they may be able to arrange for you to get the assistance you need.  In my practice we frequently make arrangements with patients that can range from comprehensive supervised nursing care for out of town patients or just someone to check in on you at home after surgery as needed.Best wishes on your journey.

You must have someone take you home after surgery.  Also, I would talk to my surgeon about post operative care.   I advise my patients to have someone with them the night of surgery.  There are companies that employee caregivers to help patients with aftercare.  Discuss your options with your surgeon.
