Is it necessary to discontinue oral minoxidil before rhinoplasty & breast augmentation & when can it be continued?

I am going to be undergoing a rhinoplasty and breast augmentation in two weeks. I am on 2.5 mg of oral minoxidil. Is this necessary to discontinue before surgery, and if so, when after surgery can it be continued?

Since oral minoxidil can lower your blood pressure, it's important to inform both your surgeon and your anesthesiologist that you are taking it. It is unlikely that you will need to discontinue it for any significant period. By disclosing your use of minoxidil, your medical team can appropriately adjust any other medications you may be receiving. This ensures your safety during surgery.

This is an excellent question to ask to your surgeon at your preoperative visit. I don't believe it would make a difference in so far as your surgeries are concerned, however, some surgeons like to avoid unnecessary medications before a general anesthesia procedure. Dear Graceful,
The question 1st is why are you on minoxidil.  If you are on minoxidil for something other than hair growth then I would recommend stopping it for a week before surgery and resuming a week after surgery.  The change in hair will be insignificant for stopping the medication for 2 weeks.  However if you are on minoxidil for another reason than this is something I would discuss with your doctor and your internist or whoever put you on the minoxidil before starting and or stopping.
