I went to consult yesterday was told I need the umbilical tummy tuck that I don't have enough upper skin for traditional tummy tuck. Please give me your advise I'm nervous about moving my belly button. Thanks in advance
Answer: Floating the umbilicus vs a short vertical scar Great question! There different ways to address the belly button. I'll attach a short video explaining the different options. I hope it helps. :)

Answer: Umbilical float is a very reasonable option for many people. An umbilical float is a very reasonable option for someone who doesn't have enough skin above the umbilicus to perform a standard tummy tuck without a long vertical scar. It is also very reasonable if your umbilicus is high, or high-normal in position.I perform this type of tummy tuck quite a bit, and it allows surgeons to help flatten the abdominal wall significantly even for patients that don't have enough excess skin for a traditional tummy tuck.

Answer: Candidate for a mini tummy tuck? Hello and thank you for your questions and photos. After reviewing your photos it appears that you are quite fit without a large amount of loose skin, and may be a candidate for a mini tummy tuck. However it is impossible to gauge tissue elasticity and the amount of loose skin that should be removed to give you the absolute best result just from a photo. I would encourage you to schedule a consultation and discuss your body contouring options with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), who is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), and also a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) demonstrating their commitment to cosmetic surgery and excellence in surgery. Assure that they have multiple before and after photos of results that you like so that you can have an informed discussion about your mini tummy tuck and possible results after a comprehensive exam.Best Wishes!Daniel Brown, MD, FACS Diplomate, American Board of Plastic Surgeons MemberAmerican Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons MemberAmerican Society of Plastic Surgeons Real Self Top 50

Answer: Tummy tuck Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you are a better candidate for a full tummy tuck with liposuction. This can be done through a low and short incision, all completely below the bikini line. The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on the exterior. Your muscles can also be plicated resulting in a flat abdomen. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Tummy Tuk Dear mjneilson,Thank you for posting pictures with your question. You have a lot of stretch marks on the belly and seem to also have skin excess. On the side view we can appreciate muscle diathesis (weakness). You are a great candidate for a low scar technique tummy tuck and muscle repair. This will eliminate the skin excess and fix the muscle for a flatter belly. Best wishes.
