Dysport wearing off after 1 month? (Photo)

Question

I got 33 units of Dysport on 2/1 for 11’s and some forehead. The 11’s started to fade after 2 weeks but there is full movement to frown and the lines are starting to come back. They’re “static” & I don’t expect them to disappear. could it be wearing off already? I’m going back next week to have her look at the results, but don’t want to seem like I have unrealistic expectations. I’m 38 and this was my first treatment. All muscles move with ease.

Your treatment dosing was too conservative to treat those areas which may have contributed to the results not lasting longer.  It's important to remember that Dysport units are not equal to Botox units.  An approximate relation is three units of Dysport equates to one unit of Botox.

Hi Marie.  For the area between the eyes, we typically dose patients between 50-60 units and would have suggested 60 for you.  This is based on the goal of achieving 3-4 months duration for the product.  It is normal for the injected muscles to "wake up" slowly over time as you show in your photos, but the ability to contract the muscles in this area should be severely limited at 4 weeks.Also, the lighting appears to be ever so slightly different between the photos, which may affect how you see the lines. As a preliminary recommendation, we would recommend a higher does for you.

It may be that additional Dysport or a combination of Dysport with lasers, microneedling/prp and fillers is needed to get your desired results. Dysport results resolve in 3-4 months. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

The glabella area typically needs more than the does you received. 50-60 units is a standard dose in the glabella area. Some patients can metabolize the products quicker than others if they work out a lot so that's something you should be aware of. You should go back to your injector and see what she recommends.
