I have all patients up and walking the day of surgery.after 2 weeks they can begin to get their heart rate up (hiking)after 4 weeks they can begin more normal exercise routines such as runningat 6 weeks they are free to start weights, pilates etchope this helpsdr schwartz
Thank you very much for this interesting enquire. To give post-operative advice, i have lerned to individualize each patient according the complexity of the surgery, with this method the patient gets better results. For example, between two patients who has made a full tummy tuck, maybe, one of them, needed a bigger muscle repair than the other, because her abdominal wall was weaker. Therefore, who underwent a greater muscle repair, require a longer period of recovery, and will take longer to allow exercise, to prevent any damage of the surgery performed. But, generally speaking, in the average Tummy Tuck + BBL patient, exercises tend to allow two months after PO, gradually: first, gentle walks without sweating, then, you can go to the gym to do aerobics, and, after four months you can do machines excercise and start with light weights, and, only six months after PO may charge "free weights".I recommend you a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, specialized in Body Contour, who knows individualize each patient to give you the better advice. Finally, i invite you to share your photos with us to give more and better information of interest to you.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
While your specific postoperative situation should be handled by your operating surgeon, I restrict all exercising and heavy lifting (weight training, aerobic activity, yoga, pilates, swimming, etc...) for four weeks postop. Plastic surgeons nationwide have different postoperative protocol when it comes to physical activity, so my recommendation is to follow up with your operating surgeon who knows your situation best. Best of luck!
