Sore calves after tummy tuck - normal?

You need to be immediately evaluated by your physician to rule out a deep venous thrombosis (DVT).  Your soreness could be simply due to your inactivity with surgery and use of different muscles when walking with a different posture, however it's important to rule out a DVT because it can be serious if it leads to a pulmonary embolism.   And ultrasound study of your leg veins can determine if there are clots in those vessels.   

Please call your surgeon ASAP to be seen just to be sure you are not forming a emboli or thombi .........

Thanks for the question.  As should be considered, you have to be sure that you don"t have a DVT that can lead to PE.  This doesn't always involve shortness of breath or local pain, but the necessity to be sure is high and you have to follow up with your local physician or emergency room physician.I always place my patients  on Lovenox as a chemoprophylactic injection product that my patients use every day for a week to help prevent DVT's.Good luck to you, but be sure to check this out.Frank Rieger M.D.  Tampa Plastic Surgeon
