It has been 3 1/2 weeks since my surgery. I still see swelling in the lids, and a little in my upper cheeks. The right eyelid seems more swollen and droopy than the left, as the photo shows. The swelling persists longer than just first thing in the morning. My surgeon's assistant told me to expect some swelling for up to three months.

Answer: Upper Blepharoplasty Swelling Thank you for the photo! At 3 1/2 weeks, you are still in the early stages of healing. By 3 months things should be looking pretty normal but in some cases can take a bit longer. No need for concern at this stage.

Answer: Persistent swelling three weeks after eyelid surgery? It is normal to still have persistent swelling three weeks after upper eyelid surgery; the surgeon's assistant is right. It is difficult to tell because of the persistent swelling and from the photos provided, but you might actually have upper eyelid ptosis. This is a condition not corrected by the upper blepharoplasty procedure and additional surgery by an oculofacial plastic surgeon could be necessary. Good luck!
